![]() At present, there exists a significant gap in service delivery. Adolescent drug abuse is another major area of concern because more than half of the person's with substance use disorder are introduced to drugs before the age of 15 years. Economic burden, disturbed family environment, violence, and psychological problems are other consequences of drug abuse in the family. Despite the fact that more men use drugs than women, the impact of drug use tends to be greater on women, because women lack access to care for drug dependence. The National level survey conducted on drug use in India indicated that prevalence of drug abuse among males in the general population is significant. Drug use, whether licit or illicit, causes serious health problems in individuals. The most common use of drug in India is alcohol, followed by cannabis and opiates. In recent years, India is seeing a rising trend in drug addiction. ![]() The global problem of addiction and drug abuse is responsible for millions of deaths and millions of new cases of HIV every year. Findings reveal that there is significant difference in visual retention ability among cannabis users after a period of brief abstinence in comparison to healthy adolescents whereas no significant difference was observed in inhibition of cognitive interference among both the groups.ĭrug addiction has become a worldwide problem and the leading cause of death. ![]() The ability to retain visual stimulus was assessed using Benton Visual retention test and the ability to inhibit cognitive interference was assessed using Stroop Test. The participants were matched by age and screened for individuals who met the inclusion/exclusion criteria of the study. With the objective of understanding the ability to inhibit cognitive interference among adolescents with cannabis use disorder the current study has selected 20 adolescent cannabis users and healthy participants each. Various researchers have contradictory views on neuropsychological effects of cannabis. Though cannabis was being used in India for over centuries for medicinal and recreational purposes, it is now one of the widely abused drugs of choice among the youth. Cannabis is one of the most commonly used recreational drugs among adolescents. Substance abuse is defined as a pathological use of alcohol or drugs, characterized by daily intoxication, inability to reduce consumption, and impairment in social or occupational functioning. Study concluded that, there is significant improvement in the neuropsychological functioning such as sustained attention (p< 0.05) and focused attention (p<0.05) in children with Specific Learning Disability (SLD) after providing the neuropsychological intervention. The study results shows that, most of the children with LD have inadequate scores in motor speed, executive function, sustained attention, verbal working memory, Visuo-conceptual ability and visual learning and memory and have moderate to high level of achievement motivation. This study assessed the neuropsychological functions and achievement motivation of children and provided 12 hours of Neuropsychological Rehabilitation (NR) package for 4 weeks, consisting of activities for attention. ![]() Independent"t"-test and paired"t"-test were done as the part of statistical analysis. Experimental research design was used in the research. Ten children (N=10, n (Male) = 7, n (Female) = 3) have participated in the study. The participants of the study were children who are studying in 4th to 7th standard (9 years to 12 years) who are diagnosed with mixed disorder of scholastic skills from Suddhananda Vidyalaya, Chennai. The present study is aimed to investigate the Level of achievement motivation, Neuropsychological profile and impact of Neuropsychological Rehabilitation on children with Specific Learning Disability (SLD).
